Genre requirementsThe Rule-O-Matic has decided that this SpeedHack is going to be a freestyle contest. You can produce any entry you like - providing that Allegro is used. I`m sure that will be a great relief for the rest of you! Technical requirementsThere is one technical requirement: No external dataYour program must contain all of the data that your entry requires within the source files of the program. You are not permitted to use Grabber datafiles or separate datafiles that are loaded at runtime. All data that is included in the source files must pass through the compiler and the source must compile correctly. Hints : Possible solutions to this are to use the drawing functions in the Allegro library to draw onto created bitmaps, use vector/3D graphics, and use randomly generated data to Create explosion graphics etc (look at how Marauder (available from Shawn`s web site) creates graphics). You can also create tables of data either manually typed in by hand or by converting binary files to tabulated data that is included in the source file. You may be able to find some cunning way of including binary data within the source, and using #if..#endif to get the compiler to ignore it and loading the data later.. It is possible, but it will require some thinking/planning to pull off. Shawn`s SPEED entry had no external data, so it is not as hard as it looks! :) Artistic requirementsThere is one artistic requirement: `Give peace a chance`In this uncertain world, with violence and ill feeling Between nations, wouldn`t it be good to spread a Little love and Harmony to everyone and mellow out those negative vibe merchants? Your entry should exude a message of peace, love and mutual respect. Heaven knows we could do with it right now.. If John Lennon had been alive today..what would he have put in a computer game to get the message across?
